Ok so here are a few snaps I took today while on campus. It was 32 oC and its not even may.....
The Duke crest.
Duke Chapel, you can't miss it really.
a random road
I just like it, I don't know why. The weather ain't bad here either.
Im moving out of the hotel I am in tomorrow. The place i'm moving into costs $300 a month, which is about 150 sheets in real money. I have been getting mixed reviews of places to live in Durham. I think some of it is people just not being used to big cities. I went to look at this place and it looked nice but people were saying the area is a bit sketchy. The people at ihouse said it is nice so i'm going for it. The main factor in my choosing it is the guy I will be sharing with seems like a nice guy, it's furnished and it's near all the cool stuff. I'm only gonna be there till August if I don't like it.
The strange thing about finding a place to live here is that the difference between good and bad areas can depend on what side of the road your walking on. I'm going to be living in Trinity park and they range from $1 Million to $100 K. It's just crazy. It's sort of like having a small bit of parsons cross in millhouses.
Also found this local live 3D which is a bit like google earth but it has a special high res 3D crazy bit and shows sunny Sheffield in all it's glory.

I like tea.....
Right so as my unofficial press secretary has published this website I better pull my finger out and actually write some stuff on it, hadn't I?
I'm doing this because I hate those mass impersonal emails, also I will be able to look back on this and I can stick stupid pictures on it. I'm just going to be playing with it. I'll keep reminding you of the URL, he he. It would also be nice to get comments too.....
The title of the blog is a play on a James Taylor song called Carolina in my mind. The lyrics are here, it might make sense if you listen or read them. I actually heard this while I was searching for songs for my leaving party, but it was a bit slow so I didn't put it in. It was also one of the first songs I heard on the radio when I got here so I guess it kinda stuck with me.
Ok so here is my first test of putting pictures on this thing. I might use photobucket or this I don't know, you can see my previous attempts at photography there. Anyway as the t-shirt Adam gave me said, I quite like tea and this is what I have to work with.....

Well I'm here
As moving from the UK to the US is a pretty big thing, I thought I would write a blog about it.
So here I am in Durham, NC, USA. So far so good. I have been here about a week. I am working for Duke University, which you can see by satelite from those lovely people at google maps. A site which I have been looking at while trying to figure out where I am going to live.
I think I have finally got over the jetlag, I dont feel as stupid anyway, well as stupid as I was. And not as bad as my leaving do - see the pictures here. There was a lot of sillyness that night. Hopefully I will get a lot more pictures of that and will be able to link them all in a post.
I am going to try and keep this up to date with photos etc.
